While it won't happen until May, I feel it wouldn't be a proper journey through choir if I didn't discuss what happens at our final concert of the year. The event is very bittersweet as it is our seniors' last concert. We have a senior slide show that appears before Symphonic choir performs. Every slide includes a student's baby picture, awkward middle school picture, and then a senior picture. Then our choir performs two out of our three songs. Our senior showcase then happens before our final song. The showcase is where any senior in our choir can perform a song for the audience. I know I want to perform I just haven't decided on a particular song yet! After the showcase, we perform the same song symphonic performs every year at our last concert-The World of Our Dreams. It is basically a goodbye song to the seniors, and the seniors to the school. Everyone cries quite honestly because for many, it hasn't quite hit them until that song that this is our last concert. Our last time for all of us to sing together on the Bradley stage. Many times, no one feels quite ready. But every year, it is sung with such emotion that we just keep doing it. Towards the end of the song when we are still singing, all seniors make their way to the bottom level of the performing arts center. We take off our stoles and place them on a table as a means of passing them on to the next group of new members. The remaining symphonic members are still singing on stage while the rest of the seniors are in the center singing. We have had so many traditions that have become incredibly important to all of us, they will always be passed on. We are leaving a legacy for the next group of choir students.
